2014 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

SACRAMENTO, CA –  The Sacramento Kings ownership group – Sacramento Basketball Holdings, LLC (SBH) – and the Sacramento Sports Commission (SSC) announced a marketing partnership for the duration of the 2014 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. As part of the agreement, Kings sales and marketing staff will work with the SSC to drive ticket sales, premium hospitality and sponsorship revenue.

“Sacramento Basketball Holdings, LLC is a tremendous community partner and has broad reach throughout Sacramento,” said Sports Commission Director Mike Sophia. “Their participation and support will increase our ability to showcase the Championships and further enhance our efforts to bring major track and field events, along with other top-tier sporting events, to Sacramento.”

“We are excited to partner with the Sacramento Sports Commission because we share their vision of Sacramento as a great sports destination,” said Sacramento Kings President Chris Granger. “One of the core values of our NBA 3.0 philosophy is to support and elevate the local community, and we see this as a prime opportunity to help showcase the business and economic opportunities Sacramento has to offer.”

Held at Sacramento State’s Hornet Stadium from June 25-29, the 2014 Championships represent the return of track and field to Sacramento with the first major U.S. meet since the 2004 Olympic Trials. A successful Championship this summer will help ensure the return of the Championships in 2017, which will be a qualifying year for USA’s World Championship team.

“Sacramento has some of the most passionate sports fans in the United States, and I have no doubt that this community will support the Championships and athletes like no other region in the country could,” said Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson. “This a great opportunity to put Sacramento on the map as a prime destination for high level sports and events, and I couldn’t be more excited about the potential economic benefits this partnership can bring to Sacramento.”
