24 Year Old Inmate Dies in Custody

Shortly after 1:00AM on the morning of February 25, 2014, a twenty-four year old male inmate died from medical related issues while at the hospital.

Late last night, Main Jail Deputies were notified the man was vomiting and having medical issues within his cell. He was immediately transported to a local hospital and was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.  The man had been in custody at our Main Jail facility since February 22, 2014, on drug related charges and vehicle code violations.

The cause of death is unknown at this time, however does not appear suspicious.  The Sheriff’s Department will conduct a thorough inmate-death investigation in accordance with the department procedures and state laws.  The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause of death and forward its findings as prescribed by law.

The Coroner’s Office will release the name of the inmate after they notify next of kin.
