25 Year Old Killed in Motorcycle Accident

On February 23, 2014 at approximately 11:40 a.m., Mohammed Khan, a 25 year old from Sacramento was riding a red 2009 Buell 1125R motorcycle on northbound Walerga Road south of Shandwick Drive at a high rate of speed.

A 40 year old female from Sacramento was driving a blue 2004 Toyota Corolla on northbound Walerga Road approaching Shandwick Drive in the #2 lane ahead of the motorcycle.  Khan attempted to pass the Toyota on the right, as the driver of the Toyota was attempting to make a right turn. The motorcycle struck the right side of the Toyota causing the motorcycle to be thrown to the ground and slide until it collided with a light pole.

Khan was ejected from the motorcycle and collided with a concrete wall on the northeast corner of the intersection.  Khan was pronounced dead at the scene.  He was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.  The other driver was not injured.

Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a contributing factor in this collision.  This collision is still under investigation.
