Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a man shot and killed outside of a home in Herald yesterdat afternoon. The victim, a fifty year-old male, was found in the driveway of a residence in the 13000 block of Purvis Road. He sustained a single gunshot wound to his upper body, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s nephew, who lives at the residence, was inside the home when he heard a gunshot shortly before 4:30 p.m. this afternoon. He looked outside and saw the victim lying motionless in the driveway next to a motorcycle, which he had reportedly taken out for a ride earlier. It was not immediately known whether the victim, who does not live at the location but had been visiting relatives there, was coming from or returning to the residence when the shooting took place.
No details regarding any suspect(s) are available, and the investigation remains ongoing.
