SACRAMENTO, CA –Assistance League National Children’s’ Book Drive was selected from the thousands of efforts that took place on Make a Difference Day 2013 as the All-Star Winner. Assistance League chapters all over the country participated in the drive to make a difference in children’s lives. Together with Umpqua Bank and Golden Pacific Bank, Assistance League of Sacramento collected a total of 1,865 books.
Sponsored by USA WEEKEND Magazine in partnership with Points of Light, and supported by Newman’s Own, Make a Difference Day is the nation’s largest day of volunteering.
For more than two decades, Make a Difference Day has inspired millions of people to serve their communities and improve the lives of others.
Assistance League, as the 2013 All-Star Award recipient, will receive a $10,000 charitable donation from USA WEEKEND Magazine and the Gannett Foundation. This year all honorees will be celebrated during a luncheon in Washington D.C., on Thursday, April 10.
