At approximately 11:30PM last night, March 27th, the California Highway Patrol reported they had been involved in an officer-involved shooting within the County jurisdiction while investigating a possible auto theft call in the 1500 block of Howe Avenue.
CHP officers were outside of their vehicles checking a truck parked in the parking lot of an establishment when a male approached them carrying an assault rifle. When CHP officers demanded the subject drop the rifle, he pointed the muzzle of the rifle at the officers, forcing them to fire upon him; shooting him.
The male was transported to a local hospital where he has been listed in critical but stable condition. No officers were injured during this incident.
The investigation into the incident will be conducted by the Sacramento Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau.
