Man Convicted in Gang Related Murder

District Attorney Jan Scully recently announced that Nestor Ardon was convicted by jury of second degree murder and personal use of a knife and gang enhancement as well as two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and personal use of knife and gang enhancements.

On April 20, 2011, Ardon, a validated Sureo gang member, was sitting in his car outside the R&R Wellness marijuana dispensary waiting for his girlfriend to purchase marijuana. Three Norteo gang members came out of the dispensary and stood out in front near Ardon’s vehicle. After some looks were exchanged between them, the victims’ began to back up their car to leave. When Ardon reversed his truck to block them in, they got out of their car and threw water bottles at Ardon’s car.

Ardon was getting out of his car when one of the victims rushed toward him. Ardon grabbed a multi-tool knife with both blades extended, got out of his vehicle, charged at the other victims in the car, and they all began to fight. Jesus Galvan was stabbed in the neck and died on the way to the hospital a few minutes later. The other two victims were stabbed as well, one in the abdomen and arm, the other in the leg. Both recovered from their injuries.

Ardon faces a maximum potential sentence of life in prison. Sentencing is set for January 11, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in Department 31 before the Honorable Michael Kenny.
