Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a man found shot to death inside a vehicle in north Sacramento County earlier this morning. Just after 2:00 a.m. today, deputies responded to the intersection of Predial Way and Essence Way, regarding calls of shots fired and an unresponsive man inside of a car there. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the victim sustained numerous gunshot wounds to his upper body. Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
Approximately twenty minutes earlier, the Sheriff’s communications center received a call from a man in the area of Elkhorn Boulevard near North Highlands. He reported that a woman had brandished a gun at him, and that he was following the woman and another woman in a vehicle, and gave a description of the car that they were in. During that call, communications center personnel could hear what sounded like gunshots over the phone, and then the line was disconnected.
Deputies responded to the area where the man called from, and observed a vehicle that matched the description given by the male caller. The car was occupied by two women, and driving in close proximity to another car with an adult male driving. Deputies initiated an enforcement stop on both cars, detaining the two women and one man for further investigation. Those subjects were being interviewed by detectives to determine their possible connection to the shooting victim.
The investigation is ongoing, and no motive for the shooting has yet been determined.
