Sheriff’s Homicide detectives have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal attack of a man in Rancho Cordova yesterday evening. Tywan Johnson, 28, was booked into jail earlier this afternoon on a charge of murder, and is being held without bail. Mr. Johnson was arrested at his residence in Sacramento County (without incident).
Yesterday evening, shortly after 8:00 p.m., Rancho Cordova police officers responded to the 2800 block of La Loma Drive, in response to a deceased subject. Emergency medical personnel were on scene after getting a call of an injured man at that location, and found that he had sustained fatal injuries. The victim, a 55 year-old male, suffered wounds consistent with blunt and sharp force trauma.
Investigators developed information from a person who witnessed an altercation that occurred between Johnson and the victim. Further investigation, coupled with evidence recovered at the scene, led detectives to identify Johnson as the suspect in the killing. It is believed that Johnson was casually acquainted with the victim, and that an argument related to a dispute over money occurred between the two. The argument led to Johnson attacking and fatally wounding the victim.
