Prostitution Arrests and Closure of Illegal Businesses

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s North patrol Problem Oriented Policing team has made an impact in ongoing complaints from the communities regarding illegal activity and acts of prostitution occurring at massage parlors around the north County.

In late April, POP Officers investigated ten (10) massage parlors which resulted in arrests from seven (7) of the locations.  As a result of the arrests, each massage parlor business license and permits were seized as evidence.  Their business information was forwarded to the Sheriff’s Department Special Investigations Unit for follow up.

During the month of May, two operations were conducted by the Sheriff’s POP Officers who saturated the Watt Avenue / Auburn Boulevard corridor in response to community complaints.  During the course of these operations, an additional 45 arrests were made for crimes involving illegal drugs, weapons, theft, counterfeit money, prostitution (including the solicitation of prostitution) and outstanding warrants.  Over the course of these operations, the Sheriff’s POP Team rescued five (5) female juveniles aged 13-15 years old who were engaging in prostitution activity.

The Sheriff’s Problem Oriented Policing team recognizes that without the information from the communities regarding ongoing illegal behavior, they would not be able to begin to enforce permanent results to each issue.   We continue to ask the public to report crimes in progress through our Sheriff’s dispatch number of (916) 874-5115. Ongoing neighborhood issues can be reported by contacting their local POP Officers or reaching out to each patrol area commander on
