Racing Suspected in Death of 46 Year Old Carmichael Motorcyclist

On May 19, 2014 at approximately 3:10 p.m., Mark Glorioso, a 46 year old from Carmichael was riding a red/wht 1985 Yamaha FJ1100 motorcycle on Fair Oaks Blvd eastbound east of Miles Lane at a high rate of speed. Ryan Combs, a 37 year old from Orangevale was riding a red 2000 Triumph RS955I motorcycle e/b next to Glorioso at a high rate of speed. 

Both motorcyclists were in an apparent speed contest.

Mary Berkowitz was backing her wht 2003 Ford Taurus into her driveway on the south side of Fair Oaks Blvd east of Miles Lane. When Glorioso and Combs realized that Berkowitz was blocking their path of travel they both applied their brakes. Glorioso struck the driver’s side door of the Ford and was killed upon impact. Combs ejected himself off of his motorcycle and slid on the roadway causing moderate to major injuries to himself. Berkowitz received major injuries when the front of the Yamaha struck her driver’s side door. Glorioso was pronounced dead at the scene.  He was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.  Combs was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a contributing factor in this collision.  This collision is still under investigation.
