Probation personnel will also demonstrate their automated license plate recognition system that helps probation officers identify and recover stolen cars. Please Note: Juvenile Hall is a secured facility and security measures will be in place during the open house. The public will not visit or see youth detained at the facility.
The Juvenile Hall facility was originally opened in 1961. The recent renovation and 210-bed expansion were needed to repair and renovate old units to meet current standards and accommodate the growth in the Juvenile Hall population.
Information about Juvenile Hall is often based on hearsay and misconceptions, said Chief Probation Officer Don Meyer. This event allows us to show the public how probation officers keep the community safe through holding youth accountable and helping them makechanges in their lives, said Meyer.
