After consultation with County Counsel, the District Attorneys Office, and Attorney General Brown, effective immediately, the Sheriffs Department will be applying the time credits prospectively. In compliance with amended penal code section 4019, after January 25, 2010, eligible county jail inmates will accrue one-for-one credit for work and good behavior.

Releases of inmates, eligible under the newly amended section, will occur as the new calculations are applied. All notifications to local law enforcement agencies have been made regarding the pending releases.
