On February 8, 2010, at 1:16 a.m., Sacramento County Sheriffs deputies responded to a home in the 7800 block of Winding Way regarding the report of a shooting. Deputies arrived and found a 31-year-old male victim inside the home. He had suffered a gunshot wound to his lower body. A second 25-year-old male victim was also found at the scene. He had suffered an injury to his forehead. Both victims were transported to a local hospital. The 31-year-old victim was later pronounced dead at approximately 5:00 a.m. The second victim was released from the hospital after receiving treatment for his injury. Investigators have learned the two victims are brothers and both live at the home. When the 25-year-old brother returned to his residence, shortly after 1:00 a.m., he was accosted at the front door by two suspects. Both suspects were armed with guns. The suspects demanded money from the victim and forced him into the home. A struggle ensued. At some point during the struggle, the 31-year-old brother joined the fight and was shot. Both suspects fled the scene after the shooting. It is unclear at this time what, if anything, they got away with. The first suspect is described as a white male adult, 510 tall, and heavy set. The second suspect is described only as an Asian, or Hispanic male adult. The suspects drove away from the scene in a late 90s or early 2000s, dark green or black, Ford Ranger extended cab pick up truck. Anyone with information regarding this home invasion robbery and murder is urged to call Sheriffs Homicide detectives at (916) 874-5057, or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP; or send a text message tip by texting to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter SACTIP followed by the tip information.
