CUPERTINO - Meg Whitman today announced the endorsement of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association - PAC. The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association is one of California's most respected non-partisan public policy organizations with 200,000 members throughout California. Founded by Howard and Estelle Jarvis following the historic 1978 Proposition 13 "voter revolt," the association has consistently championed lower taxes, efficient government and the right of citizens to vote on taxes and fees. "There is no organization that better understands the relationship between low taxes and individual prosperity than the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association," Whitman said. "California doesn't have a revenue problem; it has a massive spending addiction. I look forward to working with the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association President Jon Coupal and the association's 200,000 members to protect taxpayers and return fiscal discipline to state government. I am honored to accept their endorsement." "High taxes and out-of-control spending have pushed state government to the brink of bankruptcy, and we need strong leadership to put California back on track," the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association President Jon Coupal said. "Meg Whitman is the only reliable fiscal conservative in the race, and her commitment to cutting spending and eliminating waste, fraud and abuse is the way to restore prosperity to the Golden State." The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association - PAC's official endorsement concludes an extensive process that began in late 2008. "We appreciate the fact that Meg wanted to get to know our organization and goals and is willing to work with us to protect taxpayers," Coupal said. "We're standing with Meg to fight for Californians who believe taxes are too high, government spends too much money and our schools must be improved so that children can achieve their goals."
