Detectives with the Sexual Assault Felon Enforcement (SAFE) Team are asking for help in locating 55-year-old Hugh Levell StewartStewart is a registered sex offender and has been categorized as a sexually violent predator based on his prior convictions for crimes against children, rape, sexual penetration with a foreign object, and being a mentally disordered sex offender. Since January 28, 2010, there have been three incidents of sexual battery involving three different 15-year-old female students walking to Del Campo High School. Each attack occurred on the cat walk leading from Moraga Drive onto the west end of the high school campus. Stewart has been positively identified as an individual who has been seen on the campus of Del Campo High School twice in the past seven days. SAFE Team detectives would like to interview Stewart regarding his presence on the high school campus. The suspect (see composite sketch below) connected to the Del Campo High School sexual battery series is described as a White male adult in his 20s. Hes 58 to 6 tall, has short black hair, a chubby face, and a medium build. He was wearing a black hooded jacket and baggy jeans. Stewart is a White male, hes 507 tall, and weighs 159 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes. He has a scar on the left side of his neck, a scar on his abdomen, a tattoo of a lady with a rose on his left shoulder, and a tattoo of a snake on his left foot. Both times he has been seen on campus he was wearing a dark hooded jacket and dark pants. Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Hugh Levell Stewart, or has seen him near the campus of any school, is urged to call the Sheriffs Department at (916) 874-5115, or the SAFE Team at (916) 874-4317. The SAFE team is a multi-jurisdictional task force is comprised of members from the Sacramento County Sheriffs Department, the Sacramento Police Department, and the U.S. Marshalls Office. The team receives daily support from the Sacramento County Probation Department and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The SAFE team was created with grant funding from the California State Office of Emergency Services. SAFE detectives are assigned to supervise, monitor and arrest registered sex offenders who are out of compliance with their statutory requirements or who are in violation of their probation or parole status. SAFE team detectives initiate criminal investigations and conduct proactive surveillance operations in an effort to prevent sexual assaults and re-offenses by sex offenders.
