The Sacramento Police Department, in partnership with the California Office of Traffic Safety, is asking the public to think before you drink when celebrating St. Patricks Day.  Beginning the weekend before the holiday, the Sacramento Police Department will be conducting special DUI operations throughout the City.

On March 17, 2010, the Avoid the Capitol 15 DUI Task Force and the Sacramento Police Departments DUI Enforcement Team will be patrolling the City of Sacramento in an effort to keep our streets safe.

Sacramento is a great place to celebrate St. Patricks Day, but we ask that everyone Think Before You Drink. Before you drink, think about what it would be like to spend a night in jail, think about the cost of a DUI versus the cost of a cab, and think about the innocent people you could potentially injure.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Please direct any inquiries to Sergeant David Hargadon at (916) 808-6069. Media is encouraged to attend these operations in an effort to spread awareness about the impacts of drinking and driving. Please remember: Drunk Driving, Over the Limit, Under Arrest.
