On July 29, 2010, shortly before 9:00 a.m., Sacramento County Sheriffs Major Crimes Bureau detectives tracked 44-year-old child molest suspect Gary Jay Livers to a motel located at 3204 Auburn Boulevard. The detectives checked with the motel manager who confirmed Livers had checked into the motel earlier that morning. However, the detectives reviewed motel security video which showed Livers walking away from the motel four minutes prior to their arrival. At 10:57 a.m., Sheriffs patrol deputies spotted Livers at the AM/PM store located at Watt Avenue and Auburn Boulevard. The deputies arrested Livers without incident. Livers had died his hair black and cut it very short in an effort to hide his identity. Sheriffs Child Abuse detectives believe Livers had sexual intercourse with an 11-year-old girl on multiple occasions and that the acts began when the victim was 10-years-old. Detectives learned of the crime when the victim disclosed the acts to her father; who in turn, immediately notified the Sheriffs Department. The victims father and Livers are friends. When deputies took the initial child molest report they believed Livers may have been armed with three rifles; those guns have not been recovered. Livers will be booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail once detectives have completed their interview process. Livers faces the charges of oral copulation and sexual intercourse with a child 10-years-old or younger.
