Teen killed, passenger critical following car crash
On August 2, 2011, at approximately 6:00 a.m., Peter Kolesnikov, a 19 year old from Elverta was driving a gray 2002 Acura RSX at approximately 50 mph on westbound Elverta Road approaching the intersection of SR-99. Gyeong Hong, a 40 year old from Sacramento was driving a white 2006 Ford F-450 pickup at approximately 60 mph in the #1 lane on northbound SR- 99 approaching the intersection of Elverta Road. Hong was proceeding northbound through the intersection on a green light when he observed the Acura enter into the intersection from his right. Hong applied his brakes but was unable to stop his vehicle prior to striking the drivers side of the Acura.
Kolesnikov was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Christopher Taylor was transported to UC Davis Medical Center with major head trauma and is listed in critical condition. Hong had complaint of pain and did not seek medical aid. All parties in this collision were wearing their seatbelts.
Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a contributing factor in this collision. This collision is still under investigation.
