Shooting at Raley's leaves one dead





Earlier last night, shortly after 7:15p.m, Sheriff's deputies responded to the Raley's supermarket at Watt Avenue and Marconi Avenue regarding a man having been shot. Deputies arrived at the location and found a male adult lying face down in the parking lot. The victim, a black male who appeared to be in his 30's, had sustained two gunshot wounds to his upper body and was pronounced deceased by paramedics who arrived on the scene.

A witness told deputies that just after the shooting, a light-colored pickup truck was seen exiting the parking lot at a high rate of speed. No further description of any vehicles or suspect(s) was immediately available. Investigators were canvassing the area in an attempt to locate anyone else who may have witnessed the incident.

Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.  

The identity of the victim in this case will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office, after notification has been made to his next of kin.
