Pair arrested in Arden Arcade murder
Sheriff's Homicide detectives have arrested two suspects in connection with the shooting death of a man in the Arden Arcade area last week. Victor Bernard Rodgers, 19, was arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he remains in custody. A 17 year-old male was also arrested in Sacramento and booked into Sacramento County Juvenile Hall. Each suspect was booked on a single charge of murder, and is ineligible for bail at this time.
On May 22, 2012, shortly before 8:30 p.m., Sheriff's deputies responded to calls of shots fired near Wyda Way and Howe Avenue. They arrived to find 27 year-old Kerry Burns in the 2100 block of Wyda Way. Burns had sustained numerous gunshot wounds to his upper body, and died at the scene.
Detectives believe that the suspects had a casual acquaintance with the victim in this case, and that the motive for the victim's killing stemmed from a dispute over money. No booking photo is currently available for either suspect.
