Shooting on Carro Drive leaves one dead
Yesterday evening at 10:40 p.m., Sheriff's deputies responded to the 700 block of Carro Drive in response to numerous calls of shots fired. One witness reported that a male gunshot victim had been placed in a car and driven away from the scene.
Moments later, a patrol deputy was contacted by several people in a vehicle at a convenience store at the corner of Fulton Avenue and Northrop Avenue. They advised the deputy that a male in their car had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body. Paramedics were immediately called to the scene and pronounced the victim, a 22 year-old male, deceased.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the victim was shot in an alley off of Carro Drive, south of Northrop Avenue. Homicide detectives responded to the scene and worked with patrol and CSI deputies throughout the night to gather evidence and canvass the area for any witnesses to the shooting.
It is unknown at this time what led to the shooting, and detectives have identified no suspect(s) in this case.
