23 year-old arrested in Carro Drive murder

During the morning of June 8th, detectives from the Sheriff's Major Crimes Bureau arrested twenty-three year-old Wilkins Owens in connection with the shooting death of a man earlier this week. Owens was located at approximately 3:30 a.m. in Antioch, and transported back to Sacramento County and booked into jail. He is being held without bail at this time.

On June 6, 2012, at around 10:40 p.m., Sheriff's deputies responded to calls of shots fired near the 700 block of Carro Drive in Sacramento. En route to the scene, deputies found Eddie Jackson, 22, who had been driven to a parking lot at Fulton and Northrop Avenues. Jackson had suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body, and died of his injury.

Detectives believe that Owens and Jackson were acquainted with each other, but the motive for this shooting and the circumstances surrounding the incident continue to be investigated. Due to the nature of the ongoing investigation, a booking photo for Owens is unavailable at this time.
