The suspect in a sixteen year-old homicide case is in local custody after being extradited from Nevada. Terry Glen Short, 41, was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail at 1:30 a.m. yesterday, and is being held without bail. On March 21st of this year, Sheriff's Homicide detectives served an arrest warrant on Short in Nevada, where he was in custody on an unrelated matter.

In February of 1996, the Sheriff's Department investigated the death of Jessica Sanchez, 13, whose body was found in Florin Creek Park along Persimmon Avenue in south Sacramento. A DNA profile of the suspect in this case was established and at the end of 2011, detectives received information that DNA evidence linked Short to this crime.
