American Idol Auditions at Thunder Valley

The "Northern California Idol" pre auditions will be held at Thunder Valley's Outdoor Amphitheater on Monday, July 2. An anticipated crowd of over 1,200 participants compete to win a front-of-the-line pass to the "American Idol" regional auditions in Chicago. The first 200 qualified contestants that register online are guaranteed a pre-audition. Potential contestants who do not pre-register will be admitted on a first come, first serve basis.

Selected contestants will participate in a short acapella preliminary audition where 40 contestants will be selected to advance to the final round of on-stage judging. From there, one contestant will be awarded the grand prize winner and advance to the regional auditions in Chicago.

Auditions are judged by professional music educators from Skip's Music in Sacramento and are scored for vocal ability, stage presence and appearance. Participants must be 15-28 years old as of June 2 and certify they their performer's status is amateur.

Monday, July 2
6:30 a.m. - Doors open, check-in of pre-registrants begins
7:00 a.m. - Pre-auditions begin in the audition area
9:30 a.m. - Main auditions begin on Thunder Valley's Amphitheater stage
11:30 a.m. - A finalist is chosen, final performances
