Fight Turns Deadly with Shooting on Warrego Way
Shortly after 4:30 p.m. yesterday, Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 2500 block of Warrego Way regarding a call of two men involved in a fight. Information from a male caller said that a neighbor had come to his home asking him to call 9-1-1 because his brother had assaulted him.
Deputies arrived at the location and observed a male adult waiting outside in the driveway of a residence. After detaining this subject, deputies entered the home and found an adult male who had been shot in the upper body. Paramedics arrived on scene and pronounced the victim deceased from his injuries. A handgun was found near the victim's body.
Preliminary investigation suggested that the man initially detained was the victim's brother, and was the person responsible for the shooting. Homicide detectives were called to the scene to begin an investigation. The detainee was transported to another location to be interviewed by detectives for further information. The motive for this shooting remains under investigation at this time.
The identity of the victim in this case will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office after proper notification has been made to the next of kin. Anyone having information regarding this incident is asked to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (916) 874-5115.
