Woman Found Murdered in Fair Oaks Home

At 7:25 p.m. yesterday evening, Sheriff's deputies were called to the 4900 block of Durland Way in Fair Oaks regarding a suspicious person. A resident said that he had found an unknown man inside his home and had to throw him out, not knowing why he was there. The unknown subject then reportedly ran down the street and entered another residence in the neighborhood.

Deputies arrived in the area several minutes later, and were told that the subject had gone into a residence in the 7800 block of Olympic Way. Deputies set up outside the home and called for any occupants to come outside. A moment later, a naked male adult came running outside the home, covered in blood. He fell to the ground at the base of the driveway and was detained by deputies after a brief struggle.

Deputies made entry into the home that the subject had run out of, and discovered an elderly female inside. The woman showed obvious signs of trauma, and paramedics were called to the location, where they pronounced the victim deceased. The cause of death was not immediately known. The victim is believed to be a resident of the home.

The identity of the suspect detained in connection with this incident was not immediately known. He was expected to be booked into custody after being interviewed by detectives. No apparent motive for this crime was readily apparent, and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (916) 874-5115.
