Woman Jailed on Murder Charge
Sheriff's Homicide detectives have arrested a third suspect in connection with the death of a man found fatally shot earlier this year. Wendy Fong, 33, was taken into custody yesterday and booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail on a single count of murder. She is ineligible for bail at this time.
On March 28, 2012 shortly after 2:00 a.m., Sheriff's deputies responded to a call regarding a man lying motionless along the roadway in the 1700 block of Kasser Road in Elverta. Upon arrival, deputies located Anthony Ortega, 33, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation led to the identification of two other individuals as suspects in this case. Andrew Jeffries, 33, was arrested on April 25th of this year and remains in custody, along with Robert Haven, also 33, was arrested on June 25th. Further investigation led detectives to Fong as a suspect, as well.
