Fomer Sheriff's Deputy Sentenced in Drug and Identity Theft Case
District Attorney Jan Scully recently announced that 43-year-old Kelly Curran Smith was sentenced by the Honorable Kevin McCormick following her convictions for identity theft and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
While a deputy with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, Smith befriended the 90- year-old victim. Smith ordered and acquired Hydrocodone (Vicodin) using the victim's prescription information she obtained during a visit.
Smith has enrolled in a drug diversion program on the unlawful possession of a controlled substance charge. She was placed on five years of probation and ordered to serve 120 days on the identity theft charge.
