Edison Avenue Murder Suspects Jailed
Sheriff's Homicide detectives have arrested three people in connection with a shooting late Tuesday evening in north Sacramento that left one man dead. Gabriel McAlister, 30, Marcus Logan, 21, and Angel Tewksbury, 23, were all booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail late yesterday on charges of robbery and murder. All are ineligible for bail at this time.
On August 21, 2012 at approximately 10:45 p.m., Sheriff's deputies responded to the Somerset Apartments at 2526 Edison Avenue regarding calls of shots fired and a man down. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Timothy Schweiss, 25, shot once in the upper body. Schweiss was transported to a hospital and died of his injury.
Investigation throughout the evening led to the development of information that persons responsible for the shooting had retreated into the apartment complex. In response to this, perimeter containment of the complex was established as investigators processed evidence and conducted further investigation. The following morning, all three of the aforementioned suspects were located within the apartment complex and detained for questioning.
Investigators determined, based on interviews and evidence collected from the scene, that McAlister, Logan and Tewksbury were all responsible parties to this crime. While the specific actions of the suspects are not being disclosed, each one took an active role in the events that led to Schweiss' murder. It is believed that this incident was related to a marijuana transaction that culminated with the victim being robbed and fatally shot.
Anyone with additional information related to this investigation is asked to contact the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (916) 874-5115.
