17 Year Old Killed in Wright Street Shooting

Sheriff's Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting, during a robbery, in north Sacramento that claimed the life of a seventeen year-old man yesterday evening. The victim, whose name is being withheld pending notification to his next of kin, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to his upper body.

Shortly after 10:45 p.m. on August 26, 2012, deputies responded to Wright Street and Carlsbad Ave, regarding calls of a man being shot.  Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found the victim lying in the street on Wright St. just north of Carlsbad Ave.  Deputies began administering first aid until paramedics arrived at the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injury.

According to detectives, the victim and his girlfriend were approached by two black male adults wearing all dark clothing and dark hoodies.  The suspects produced a handgun and demanded property from both the victim and his girlfriend.  The suspects took the property, and for unknown reasons shot the victim before fleeing on foot.
