Man Convicted in 2010 Murder Case

District Attorney Jan Scully announced that Andre Powe was convicted by jury of second degree murder for the January 26, 2010 shooting death of Shawn West. The jury also found that Powe personally used a firearm and possessed a sawed-off shotgun.

Co-defendant Joel Satchell testified against Powe. Satchell pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter and attempted robbery and will receive a sentence of 7 years and 8 months in prison. Co-defendant Cort Milgrim pled guilty during jury selection to charges of first degree murder, attempted robbery, and child endangerment and will receive a sentence of 28 years to life in prison.

Powe faces a possible maximum sentence of 43 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for September 28, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. in Department 26 in front of the Honorable Michael Savage.
