Man Killed in Shooting Outside Motel 6 on Arden Way
Sheriff's Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a man in north Sacramento yesterday evening. Shortly after 9:00 p.m. on September 25, 2012, patrol deputies responded to a call of a man shot at a Motel 6 in the 2000 block of Arden Way. Upon arriving at the scene, they found the victim, a twenty-four year-old male, with a single gunshot wound to the lower body. Paramedics arrived and transported the victim to a hospital, where he died shortly thereafter.
A security guard working at the motel had heard the gunshot, and advised another employee to call for help. The guard then walked through the parking lot of the motel, and found the victim on the ground. The victim was not able to provide any identifying information regarding a suspect(s) prior to being taken to the hospital.
Preliminary investigation into this incident did not yield any description of a person or persons involved. Deputies were canvassing the area in an attempt to contact any witnesses. At this point, the motive for the shooting is unknown and detectives are continuing their investigation.

The identity of the deceased individual in this case will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner's office, after notification has been made to the victim's next of kin.
