The Sikh Community of the Sacramento Area, in collaboration with the Interfaith Service Bureau, is sponsoring a World Interfaith Peace March on October 11, 2008 in downtown Sacramento to celebrate 300th anniversary of the Sikh Holy Scripture Guru Granth Sahib (GGS). Along with Sikh Gurus, GGS contains compositions by several non-Sikh religious figures. It contains the wisdom and a spiritual thought of a time span More than 40,000 Sikhs who live in the Greater Sacramento Valley and a quarter million Sikhs though out the state of California revere, respect and regard GGS as their spiritual Guru. Sikh Americans, identifiable with their religiously mandated turbans have been in North America for over a century. We extend this invitation to all concerned and caring citizens to join this World Interfaith Peace March, coinciding with 300th Anniversary of the Sikh Scripture, to affirm our steadfast belief in peaceful co-existence said Honorable Mr. Gill, Religious Adviser at the Sikh Temple in West Sacramento. Sikhism teaches its followers to respect the equality of all people, defend the weak, lead lives of compassion and generosity and work hard wrote President George W. Bush in his greetings to the Sikh community on the 300th anniversary of Sikh Scripture. With this message of compassion, humility, and love, Sikhs make the world a more peaceful and hopeful place President Bush further added to Various officials from State, County, City, representatives and member of other communities and congregations, will participate to share the GGS message of universal peace while celebrating coexistence of many faiths.
