Gang Related Shooting Conviction

District Attorney Jan Scully announced that DeAngelo Holley was convicted by jury for the attempted murder of Keon Jackson and all gun and gang enhancements relating to the charge were found to be true. Additionally, the jury convicted Holley of shooting into an inhabited dwelling and found great bodily injury, gun enhancements and gang allegations to be true.

On August 20, 2011, Gunz-Up gang member DeAngelo Holley's sister told him that she had been punched in the face during a dispute with some Guttah Boyz gang members at a house located on Newport Avenue in south Sacramento. A short time later, Holley showed up at the Newport home with a shotgun and white t-shirt wrapped around his face, only exposing his eyes. Holley walked up to the house and fired a single shot, hitting Guttah Boyz gang member Keon Jackson in the face, neck and head causing severe injury. Two witnesses believed they recognized the shooter as DeAngelo Holley. Sacramento Police Detective Scott MacLafferty pieced together the clues, evidence, and witness accounts that connected Holley to the shooting.

Sentencing is set for November 30, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. in Department 22 in front of the Honorable Russell Hom.
