Man Convicted of Heinous Crimes against Family and Friends
District Attorney Jan Scully announced that Dion Tolliver was convicted by jury of rape, sodomy, sexual penetration on an unconscious victim, aggravated sexual assault and lewd & lascivious acts on a child under age 14, and sexual penetration of a child under age 10. The jury also found the multiple victim enhancements to be true.
From January 1998 through January 2009, Tolliver sexually assaulted five victims. The victims were family members and friends of the family. At the time of the offenses, they ranged in age from 7 to 16 years old.
Deputy District Attorney Jeff Harry states, "It has been my privilege to get to know and work with the courageous young victims that were sexually abused. Now that justice has been served, they can close this chapter of their lives and continue to heal knowing that the defendant will never again harm them or anyone else."
Tolliver faces a potential maximum sentence in excess of 300 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for January 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Department 26 before the Honorable Michael Savage.
