Deadly Shooting near Florin Mall Drive
Sheriff's Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a man found shot to death at a park in south Sacramento County earlier this morning. Shortly before 2:00 a.m. today, the Sheriff's communications center received a 9-1-1 call from a man, saying that he had been shot, and was in a park near Florin Mall Drive. No other details regarding the incident were given at that time.
Sheriff's deputies responded to the area described by the caller, and were able to track the location of the call to the 6000 block of Orange Avenue. While searching the area on foot, deputies located a man in his late 40's inside Sheldon Park off of Orange Avenue. The victim had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body. Paramedics arrived at the scene and pronounced the victim dead.
This investigation is ongoing, and neither a motive for the shooting nor any information regarding a suspect(s) has been determined.
