7 Year Prison Sentence for Woman in Identity Theft
District Attorney Jan Scully announced recently that 46-year-old Avette Volker was sentenced to 7 years and 8 months in state prison. The Honorable John P. Winn imposed the sentence upon her conviction by plea of identity theft related charges.
During the summer of 2012, Volker unlawfully used the identifying information of numerous victims to pay bills, buy groceries and obtain other local services to which she was not entitled. Volker obtained the information through a series of car burglaries during which wallets and purses were stolen. The case was compiled by the detectives of the Sacramento Valley Identity Theft Task Force.
