U.S. HealthWorks Offering Flu Shots at Local Businesses

To help fight the flu earlier this year and avoid unwanted sick days, one national health care provider is offering businesses an old-fashioned deal - they'll come to you.

U.S. HealthWorks Medical Group, a leading operator of occupational healthcare and urgent care centers in the nation, said yesterday it is offering to visit businesses on-site and provide flu vaccination shots to employees, starting this month.

U.S. HealthWorks has a center in Rocklin and four more in Sacramento. To set up a date and time for U.S. HealthWorks to administer flu shots at your business, or for more information regarding this program, call one of these numbers below or visit the link below.

"The earlier your employees get their flu shot, the sooner they will be protected," said Dr. Leonard Okun, National Medical Director for U.S. HealthWorks. "Many people have good intentions, but for whatever reason they either decide to get a flu shot too late or not at all. By offering to visit the workplace, U.S. HealthWorks can quickly vaccinate a large group of people and decrease the chances of the flu spreading in the office."

Under the program, a U.S. HealthWorks professional will visit businesses and administer flu vaccinations and also provide educational information on flu prevention.

The on-site program is available to businesses providing vaccinations for 25 employees or more and in the vicinity of a U.S. HealthWorks location.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that people get vaccinated against influenza as soon as the 2013-2014 flu season vaccine becomes available in their community.

Flu season is unpredictable, and can begin as early as October. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body and provide protection against the flu.

U.S. HealthWorks has 208 centers and worksite locations in 19 states and employs more than 2,700 people. The centers offer occupational health services, as well as physical therapy, chiropractic and urgent care.
