Sacramento's October Low-Car Challenge
This October, the Sacramento region is invited to participate in the October Low-Car Challenge, a campaign to reduce the number of drive-alone trips in order to improve air quality and reduce traffic congestion, with the added benefit of saving money.
During peak commute hours 82 percent of vehicle trips are made by people driving alone and a ten percent reduction in vehicle miles traveled has significant impacts in reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality.
During the challenge, participants will log their Commute, Errand, and Work/Meeting trips online at www.sacregioncommuterclub.com to earn points and compete for prizes. Each week during the month, a different mode of Low-Car transportation will be highlighted including vanpooling/carpooling, using public transit, walking, biking, and telecommuting. Those who try a new mode of transportation during October will be entered to win raffle prizes.
Sacramento Region Commuter Club is a web service provided by the Sacramento Area Council of Governments and the regional Transportation Management Organizations to support trip planning and rideshare in the region.
