Governor Brown Appoints Folsom Man as ABC Director
(Sacramento) - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. announced the appointment of 49 year-old Timothy Gorsuch of Folsom as Director of the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC).
Gorsuch has served in multiple positions at the ABC since 1993, including Chief Deputy Director, acting Assistant Director, Deputy Division Chief, District Administrator/Legislative Officer, Supervising Investigator and Investigator.
Gorsuch brings experience and education to the job having graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice in 1989 and more recently graduating from the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy in March 2009. In addition to his law enforcement career, Gorsuch also served over 20 years as a Combat Engineer in the California Army National Guard and the United States Army Reserves.
Gorsuch will oversee a Department that is responsible for the administration, licensing and regulation of businesses that manufacture, distribute and sell alcoholic beverages in California.
ABC is a Department of the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency.
