19 Year Old Killed in Shooting on Florin Road





Sheriff's Homicide Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting that claimed the life of a young man earlier this morning. At approximately 1:30 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a man shot near the intersection of Franklin Boulevard and Florin Road.

Upon their arrival, they found a man, 19, who sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene by Fire Department personnel. 

Detectives have preliminarily concluded that the victim and his friends were at a convenience store located in the 8000 block of Florin Road, when they were involved in a confrontation with another group of males.  It has been reported that shots were fired and the victim was struck in the upper body at the scene, and then drove the short distance to the intersection of Florin Rd / Franklin Blvd where a 9-1-1 call was made requesting help. 

At this time, the shooting suspect(s) and/or motive have not been identified and Detectives are continuing to gather information surrounding the incident.  The identity of the victim in this case will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office, after notification has been made to his next of kin.
