Wasted: The Truth about Underage Drinking in Sacramento

Local students who are dedicated to reducing minors' access to alcohol and curbing underage drinking are rolling out the red carpet for the debut of Wasted: The Truth about Underage Drinking in Sacramento. The documentary uncovers the realities of youth access to and use of alcohol, as well as community approaches to solve alcohol related problems and create healthier communities.

When: Monday, February 24, 2014, 6:30 p.m.

Where: Folsom Police Department, 46 Natoma Street, Folsom.

 Members of the Folsom Police Department Special Investigation Unit (SIU) also will discuss their recent 'Minor Decoy' operation which resulted in multiple arrests.

Additional Background: With the assistance of the Butte County Department of Behavioral Health, the documentary was shot over the course of a year. It illustrates the problem of underage drinking and binge drinking in Sacramento County and also highlights strategies that students, families and leaders in our community are using to make effective and lasting positive change.

The Folsom Police Department and the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) also conducted a Recognition and Reminder Program, positively reinforcing store clerks who ask for identification during alcohol purchases.  Partnering organizations include the Folsom Cordova Unified School District, Folsom Police and SCOE.
