2 Arrested in Child's Murder
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department Detectives, along with San Francisco Police Department police officers have made an arrest in connection with the homicide of a two-month old child from 2013.
On April 8, 2013, Sacramento County Sheriff Deputies responded to an apartment complex in the 2200 block of Edison Avenue to assist the Sacramento Metro Fire Department on a call involving an unresponsive two-month old child. Paramedics transported the child to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Sacramento County Coroner's Office performed an autopsy and later determined the cause of death was homicide and the child had suffered multiple injuries indicative of child abuse.
The child was in the care and custody of Davonna Byrd, 24, and Damian Porter, 25. The Sacramento County District Attorney's Office issued an arrest warrant for both Byrd and Porter, who were arrested in San Francisco on June 25th, then transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail yesterday. Both Byrd and Porter have been charged with murder and assault on a child with force likely to produce great bodily injury resulting in death.
